Privacy Policy

We collect only the information needed to run the service:

• Account information: your name, email address and, if available, profile picture, provided when you sign up with email or with Google.
• Practice content: the answers you submit in tests, including reading and listening responses, written essays and letters, and speaking audio recordings, together with the scores and feedback generated for them.
• Progress data: test history, results, target scores and similar settings you choose to save.
• Purchase information: the plan you buy and the status of your payment. Card details are entered on and handled by our payment processor (Stripe); PrepAsk never receives or stores your full card number.
• Support messages: anything you send us through the contact form, email, or the in-app study assistant.
• Usage and device data: pages visited, features used, approximate location derived from IP address, browser and device type, collected through cookies and similar technologies.

You can create a PrepAsk account or sign in using your Google account. When you do, Google asks for your permission to share the following basic profile information with PrepAsk:

• Your name
• Your email address
• Your profile picture (if you have one)

PrepAsk only requests the standard openid, email and profile permissions. We do not access your Gmail, Google Drive, contacts, calendar or any other Google service data.

How we use Google user data. We use this information only to:

• create your PrepAsk account and sign you in securely;
• display your name and picture in your account and dashboard;
• send you essential account and service emails (for example, receipts or important changes to the service).

How we store and protect it. Your Google profile information is stored with your PrepAsk account in our secured database, encrypted in transit, and is accessible only to you and to authorized PrepAsk staff when needed to provide support.

Sharing. We do not sell, rent or share Google user data with third parties, and we do not use it for advertising. It is disclosed only to the infrastructure providers that host our service on our behalf, or when required by law.

AI and Google user data. Google user data is never used to develop, improve or train generalized or non-personalized AI or machine learning models.

Revoking access. You can remove PrepAsk's access to your Google account at any time from your Google Account permissions page. To also delete the data we already hold, see "Data Retention and Deletion" below.

We use the information we collect to:

• provide the service: deliver tests, score your answers and generate feedback;
• save your results so you can review past attempts and track your progress;
• authenticate you and keep your account secure;
• process purchases and manage access to paid plans;
• respond to support requests and send essential service communications;
• understand how the site is used, fix problems, and prevent fraud and abuse;
• improve the quality of our questions and feedback, using de-identified practice content only.

We do not use your personal information for third-party advertising.

When you submit a Writing or Speaking response (and some other answers) for evaluation, the content of that response is processed by AI systems, operated by us or by AI service providers acting on our behalf, to produce band score estimates and feedback. Only the content needed for the evaluation is sent for processing.

Where we use practice content to improve our evaluations, it is de-identified first so it cannot be linked back to you. AI-generated scores are estimates to support your practice and are not official test results.

• Essential cookies: required to keep you signed in and to keep the site secure. The site cannot work without them.
• Analytics: we use analytics tools, including Google Analytics, to understand which pages and features are used so we can improve them.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though signing in and some features may stop working. You can also opt out of Google Analytics using Google's opt-out browser add-on.

We share information only in these limited cases:

• Service providers: companies that host our website, database, file storage and authentication, process payments, send email, provide analytics, or power AI feedback. They process data only on our instructions and only as needed to provide their service to us.
• Legal reasons: when required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and security of PrepAsk, our users or the public.
• Business transfers: if PrepAsk is involved in a merger or acquisition, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information.

We keep your account information and practice history for as long as your account is active, so you can return to your results. Payment records may be kept longer where required for tax and accounting.

You can ask us to delete your account at any time by emailing support@prepask.com from the email address on your account. We will delete your account, including any data received from Google, your submissions and recordings, within 30 days, except for records we are legally required to keep.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• access the personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it;
• correct inaccurate information;
• request deletion of your information;
• object to or restrict certain processing, or withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, email support@prepask.com. We will respond within 30 days.

We protect your information with industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), access controls that keep each user's data private to their account, and restricted staff access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and will notify you of any breach where required by law.

Our service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where this happens, we rely on providers that apply appropriate safeguards to protect your information.

PrepAsk is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date above and, for significant changes, notify you by email or on the site. Continued use of PrepAsk after an update means you accept the revised policy.
